Low-level Clouds

Low-level clouds are clouds that form below 6,500 feet (2,000 meters) above ground level. These clouds are typically composed of water droplets and are generally associated with stable atmospheric conditions. Low-level clouds can be further classified into stratus, stratocumulus, and cumulus clouds. Stratus clouds are flat and featureless clouds that often cover the entire sky, while stratocumulus clouds are low, lumpy clouds that can appear in rows or patches. Cumulus clouds are puffy, white clouds that can develop vertically and are often associated with fair weather. Low-level clouds can have a significant impact on aviation operations, as they can reduce visibility and create turbulence.
