Maneuvering Speed

Maneuvering speed is the maximum speed at which an aircraft can make abrupt control inputs (full deflection of the control surfaces) without exceeding the design limit load factor. It is also known as the 'Va' speed and is typically depicted on the airspeed indicator by a green arc. Operating an aircraft above maneuvering speed can result in structural damage or even failure, especially in turbulent conditions or when abrupt control inputs are made. Maneuvering speed varies with aircraft weight and is typically higher at lighter weights. It is an important speed for pilots to be aware of and to adhere to during flight.
