National Transportation Safety Board


The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is an independent U.S. government investigative agency responsible for civil transportation accident investigation. The agency investigates and reports on aviation accidents and incidents, as well as accidents and incidents in other modes of transportation, including highway, marine, pipeline, and rail. The NTSB determines the probable cause of the accidents and makes recommendations to prevent similar events from occurring in the future. The agency also conducts special investigations and safety studies aimed at improving transportation safety.
