Particulate Matter (PM) in aviation refers to tiny particles of solid or liquid suspended in the air. These particles can come from various sources such as engine exhaust, brake wear, and tire wear. PM can have harmful effects on human health and the environment. In aviation, PM emissions are regulated by international organizations such as the International civil aviation organization (ICAO) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Aircraft manufacturers and operators are also working to reduce PM emissions through the use of cleaner fuels, improved engine design, and better maintenance practices.
