Pneumatic Pumps
Pneumatic pumps are devices that use compressed air to move fluids or gases. In aviation, pneumatic pumps are commonly used in aircraft hydraulic systems to pressurize and move hydraulic fluid. They are also used in aircraft fuel systems to transfer fuel from one tank to another. Pneumatic pumps are preferred in aviation because they are lightweight, reliable, and do not generate sparks, which could be a fire hazard in the presence of fuel vapors. However, they require a source of compressed air, which can be provided by an engine-driven compressor or an auxiliary power unit (APU).
