Pylons

In aviation, pylons are external structures mounted on the wings or fuselage of an aircraft to carry external loads such as fuel tanks, weapons, or other stores. Pylons are designed to be aerodynamically efficient and to minimize drag. They are typically made of lightweight materials such as aluminum or composite materials. Pylons can be fixed or removable, and their position on the aircraft can affect the aircraft's center of gravity and handling characteristics. Pylons are an important component of military aircraft, which often carry a variety of external stores for different missions.
