Respirator

In aviation, a respirator is a device worn over the mouth and nose to protect the wearer from inhaling harmful substances, such as smoke, fumes, or chemicals, during emergency situations or in environments with poor air quality. Respirators can be either air-purifying, which filter out contaminants from the air, or air-supplying, which provide clean air from an external source. In aviation, respirators are commonly used by pilots, flight attendants, and ground crew during aircraft fires, engine maintenance, or other situations where hazardous materials may be present.
