Sextant

A sextant is a navigational instrument used to measure the angle between two visible objects. In aviation, it is used to determine the altitude of an aircraft by measuring the angle between the horizon and a celestial object, such as the sun or a star. This information is then used to calculate the aircraft's position. Sextants were commonly used in aviation before the advent of GPS and other modern navigation systems.
