Specific Energy
Specific Energy is the amount of energy per unit mass of a fuel. In aviation, specific energy is an important parameter used to compare the energy content of different fuels. It is usually measured in units of joules per kilogram (J/kg) or British thermal units per pound (BTU/lb). Specific energy is a critical factor in determining the range and endurance of an aircraft. The higher the specific energy of a fuel, the more energy it contains per unit mass, and the longer an aircraft can fly on a given amount of fuel. Jet fuels typically have a higher specific energy than gasoline or diesel fuels, which makes them more suitable for aviation applications.
