Terrain Following Radar
Terrain Following Radar (TFR) is a type of radar system used in military aircraft to allow low-level flight at high speeds. TFR uses radar to map the terrain below the aircraft and provides the pilot with a visual display of the terrain ahead. This allows the pilot to fly at low altitudes, even in poor visibility conditions, while avoiding obstacles such as mountains and buildings. TFR is particularly useful in military operations where low-level flight is necessary to avoid detection by enemy radar. The system is also used in some civilian aircraft for terrain mapping and collision avoidance.
