True Airspeed
True Airspeed (TAS) is the speed of an aircraft relative to the air mass in which it is flying, corrected for altitude, temperature, and pressure. It is the actual speed at which an aircraft is moving through the air. TAS is important for flight planning and navigation as it determines the time it will take to reach a destination and the fuel consumption. Pilots use TAS to calculate ground speed, which is the speed of the aircraft relative to the ground. TAS is measured in knots or miles per hour (mph).
