Airspeed
Airspeed is the speed of an aircraft relative to the air around it. It is measured using an airspeed indicator and is typically expressed in knots. There are several different types of airspeed, including indicated airspeed (IAS), calibrated airspeed (CAS), true airspeed (TAS), and groundspeed (GS). IAS is the airspeed shown on the aircraft's airspeed indicator, while CAS is IAS corrected for instrument and position errors. TAS is CAS corrected for altitude and non-standard temperature, and GS is TAS corrected for wind. Airspeed is an important factor in aircraft performance and safety, as it affects lift, drag, and stall speed.
