Unstable Approach

An approach to land an aircraft in which the aircraft is not in a stabilized condition, and the pilot is unable to maintain the desired approach parameters. The parameters include airspeed, altitude, vertical speed, and aircraft configuration. An approach becomes unstable if the aircraft is too high, too fast, or not configured properly for landing. An unstable approach increases the risk of an accident, and the pilot may decide to execute a go-around and try again. The decision to continue or discontinue an unstable approach is based on the operator's policies and the pilot's judgment.
