UVB Radiation
UVB radiation is a type of electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength range of 280-315 nanometers. In aviation, exposure to UVB radiation is a concern for pilots and flight crew as they are at higher altitudes where the atmosphere is thinner and provides less protection from the sun's harmful rays. Prolonged exposure to UVB radiation can cause skin damage, eye damage, and increase the risk of skin cancer. Pilots and flight crew are advised to take precautions such as wearing protective clothing, applying sunscreen, and wearing UV-blocking sunglasses to reduce their exposure to UVB radiation.
