VHF Radio Communication

VHF (Very High Frequency) Radio communication in aviation refers to the radio frequency range between 118.0 and 136.975 MHz. This is the primary means of communication between aircraft and air traffic control, as well as between aircraft and other aircraft. The VHF radio communication system is characterized by its line-of-sight propagation and relatively short range, which typically extends to the horizon or slightly beyond. The system operates by transmitting and receiving voice communications via radio waves. In aviation, specific frequencies are assigned for different purposes - for instance, certain frequencies are designated for emergency communications, others for air traffic control, and others for private pilot communications. The use of VHF radio communication in aviation is governed by international regulations and protocols to ensure safety and efficiency in air traffic management.
