Visual Acuity

Visual acuity is the ability of the eye to distinguish fine details of an object, such as letters, numbers, or shapes, at a specific distance. In aviation, visual acuity is crucial for pilots to be able to read instruments, see other aircraft, and identify runway markings and signs. The standard for visual acuity in aviation is 20/20, meaning that a person can see at 20 feet what a person with normal vision can see at 20 feet. Pilots must meet this standard in order to obtain and maintain their pilot's license.
