Wet Lease

Wet lease is an arrangement in which one airline (lessor) provides an aircraft, complete crew, maintenance, and insurance (ACMI) to another airline (lessee), which then operates the aircraft under its own air operator's certificate (AOC) and takes care of the marketing and ticketing of the flight. The lessor is responsible for providing the aircraft with airworthiness certificate, and the lessee is responsible for the fuel, airport fees, and other operational costs. Wet lease agreements are usually short-term and are used by airlines to meet the demand for additional capacity during peak seasons or to cover the temporary shortage of their own aircraft due to maintenance or other reasons.
