Acid Rain
Acid rain is a type of rain that contains high levels of hydrogen ions (low pH) and is caused by sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions from industrial processes, fossil fuel combustion, and natural sources such as volcanic eruptions. When these emissions mix with water vapor in the atmosphere, they form sulfuric acid and nitric acid, which fall to the ground as acid rain. Acid rain can have harmful effects on the environment, including damage to forests, lakes, and aquatic life. It can also corrode buildings and infrastructure, and contribute to respiratory problems in humans.
