Additives are substances added to aviation fuels to improve their performance or meet certain specifications. Antioxidants prevent the fuel from breaking down and forming harmful deposits, while antistatic agents reduce the risk of static electricity buildup during fueling. Corrosion inhibitors protect the fuel system from rust and other forms of corrosion, and metal deactivators prevent the fuel from reacting with certain metals in the fuel system. Additives are carefully selected and added in precise amounts to ensure that the fuel meets the required specifications and performs optimally in the aircraft's engines.
