ADS-B

Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) is a surveillance technology used in aviation that enables aircraft to determine their position via satellite navigation and periodically broadcast it, along with other information such as altitude and velocity, to ground stations and other aircraft. ADS-B is a key component of the Next Generation Air transportation System (NextGen) in the United States and the Single European Sky ATM Research (SESAR) in Europe, which aim to modernize air traffic control and improve safety, efficiency, and capacity of the airspace system. ADS-B Out is mandatory in many countries, including the United States and Europe, for all aircraft flying in controlled airspace.
