Aileron
An aileron is a hinged flight control surface usually attached to the trailing edge of each wing of a fixed-wing aircraft. Ailerons are used to control the aircraft in roll, which is rotation around the longitudinal axis, by increasing or decreasing the lift on one wing relative to the other. This differential lift causes the aircraft to roll left or right. The pilot operates the ailerons by moving the control wheel or control stick left or right. The ailerons move in opposite directions: when the right aileron is raised, the left aileron is lowered, and vice versa. This creates a difference in lift between the two wings, causing the aircraft to roll.
