Ailerons

Ailerons are hinged flight control surfaces attached to the trailing edge of the wing of a fixed-wing aircraft. They are used to control the aircraft's roll by increasing or decreasing the lift on one wingtip or the other, thereby causing the aircraft to roll about its longitudinal axis. When the pilot moves the control column or stick to the left, the left aileron is raised and the right aileron is lowered, causing the left wing to produce less lift and the right wing to produce more lift, which results in a left roll. Ailerons are essential for controlling an aircraft's bank angle and maintaining lateral stability.
