Approach Procedure

An approach procedure is a set of predetermined maneuvers for the orderly transfer of an aircraft under instrument flight conditions from the beginning of the initial approach to a landing or to a point from which a landing may be made visually. It includes the descent, approach, and landing operations as well as all related speed and altitude restrictions. Approach procedures are designed to ensure the safe and efficient flow of air traffic and are established for each runway at an airport. They are published in the form of approach charts, which provide pilots with the necessary information to execute the approach safely.
