Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast

Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) is a surveillance technology used in aviation that enables aircraft to determine their position via satellite navigation and periodically broadcast it, along with other information such as altitude and velocity, to air traffic control and other aircraft. ADS-B is a key component of the Next Generation Air transportation System (NextGen) and is being implemented worldwide as a replacement for radar-based surveillance systems. It provides more accurate and reliable surveillance data, improves situational awareness for pilots and air traffic controllers, and enables more efficient use of airspace.
