Barometric Pressure

Barometric pressure, also known as atmospheric pressure, is the force exerted by the weight of the Earth's atmosphere on a unit area of surface. In aviation, barometric pressure is an important factor in determining altitude and airspeed. The altimeter, which measures altitude, is calibrated to display altitude based on the standard atmospheric pressure at sea level. Changes in barometric pressure can affect the accuracy of the altimeter and can also indicate changes in weather conditions. Pilots must constantly monitor barometric pressure and adjust their instruments accordingly to ensure safe and accurate flight.
