Class C
Class C airspace is designated airspace around an airport with moderate air traffic activity. It is typically centered around airports with an operational control tower and radar approach control. The airspace extends from the surface up to 4,000 feet above the airport elevation and is divided into two 5-nautical-mile-wide rings. Aircraft operating within this airspace must establish two-way radio communication with air traffic control and must be equipped with a transponder with altitude reporting capability. Additionally, air traffic control must provide traffic advisories to all aircraft operating within Class C airspace.
