ETOPS Certification
ETOPS (Extended-range Twin-engine Operational Performance Standards) certification is a regulatory approval granted to airlines to operate twin-engine aircraft on routes that are further than 60 minutes flying time from the nearest airport suitable for landing in the event of an engine failure. The certification process involves a thorough evaluation of the aircraft's reliability, maintenance program, crew training, and emergency procedures. The purpose of ETOPS certification is to ensure that twin-engine aircraft can safely operate on long-haul routes over water or remote areas, where diversion to an alternate airport may not be possible in case of an engine failure.
