Independent Variable
In aviation research, an independent variable is a variable that is manipulated or changed by the researcher to observe its effect on the dependent variable. It is the variable that is being tested or studied to see if it has an impact on the outcome of the experiment. For example, in a study on the effect of altitude on aircraft performance, altitude would be the independent variable as it is being changed to observe its effect on the dependent variable, which could be airspeed, fuel consumption, or engine performance. The independent variable is an important aspect of experimental design as it allows researchers to control and manipulate the conditions of the experiment to test their hypotheses.
