NextGen
NextGen is a comprehensive overhaul of the National airspace system (NAS) in the United States, aimed at enhancing the safety, efficiency, capacity, predictability, and resiliency of aviation operations. NextGen is a transformational change that involves the implementation of new technologies, procedures, and policies to modernize the NAS and meet the growing demand for air travel. NextGen includes a range of initiatives such as Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B), Performance-Based Navigation (PBN), Data Communications (Data Comm), and System Wide Information Management (SWIM), among others. The ultimate goal of NextGen is to create a more integrated, collaborative, and adaptable air transportation system that can accommodate future growth and evolving user needs.
