Runway Condition Assessment Matrix (RCAM)

The Runway condition assessment matrix (RCAM) is a tool used by pilots and airport personnel to assess the condition of a runway in terms of braking action. The RCAM takes into account various factors such as the type and depth of snow, ice, slush, and water on the runway, as well as the type and condition of the runway surface. The RCAM provides a standardized method for assessing runway conditions and determining the appropriate type of aircraft braking action required for safe operations. The RCAM is used by pilots to make informed decisions about takeoff and landing performance, and by airport personnel to determine the appropriate level of runway maintenance and treatment required to ensure safe operations.
