SQUAWK
SQUAWK is a term used in aviation to refer to the transponder code that a pilot enters into the aircraft's transponder. The transponder then sends this code to air traffic control radar systems, allowing air traffic controllers to identify the aircraft and track its location. The SQUAWK code is a four-digit number that is assigned by air traffic control to each aircraft, and it is used to differentiate between different aircraft in the same airspace. Pilots are required to set their transponder to the assigned SQUAWK code when instructed by air traffic control, and to change the code when instructed to do so. Failure to comply with SQUAWK instructions can result in a loss of separation with other aircraft, which can be a serious safety hazard.
