Threshold

In aviation, the threshold refers to the beginning of the runway that is available for landing or takeoff. It is marked by a line across the width of the runway and is typically identified by white arrows pointing towards the runway. The threshold is an important reference point for pilots during landing as it marks the minimum point at which an aircraft can safely touch down on the runway. It is also used during takeoff as the starting point for the takeoff roll. The length of the runway before the threshold is known as the displaced threshold, which is often used to provide additional safety margin for aircraft taking off or landing.
