Torque Effect

In aviation, torque effect refers to the tendency of an aircraft to roll in the opposite direction of the rotation of its engine. This is caused by the engine's torque, which creates a twisting force on the aircraft's fuselage. The effect is most pronounced at low airspeeds and high power settings, such as during takeoff. Pilots must compensate for torque effect by applying opposite aileron and rudder inputs to maintain control of the aircraft. Failure to do so can result in a loss of control and a dangerous situation.
