Transponder System
A transponder system is an electronic device installed in an aircraft that receives and automatically responds to radio signals from ground-based radar systems or other aircraft. The transponder system transmits a unique code that identifies the aircraft and provides information such as altitude and airspeed. This information is used by air traffic control to track the aircraft's position and ensure safe separation from other aircraft. The transponder system also includes a mode that allows the pilot to transmit an emergency code in the event of an in-flight emergency.
