Layover

In aviation, a layover refers to a scheduled break in a journey during which the traveler remains seated on the same aircraft. It is a period of time between connecting flights that is longer than the minimum connection time, but less than 24 hours. Layovers can occur for a variety of reasons, including crew changes, refueling, and maintenance checks. Passengers may be allowed to leave the aircraft during a layover, but they are typically required to remain in the airport's transit area. Airlines often use layovers to offer connecting flights to passengers traveling to destinations that are not served by direct flights.
