Chevron
Chevron is a V-shaped mark or design, typically in black and yellow colors, used especially as a traffic sign or as an indicator on an aircraft instrument panel to show the position of a variable element such as flaps, landing gear, or thrust reversers. In aviation, chevrons are also used to reduce noise and increase fuel efficiency. Chevron nozzles are used in jet engines to shape the exhaust flow and reduce noise. The chevron shape helps to mix the hot exhaust gases with the cooler air outside the engine, reducing the noise level. Chevron winglets are also used to reduce drag and increase fuel efficiency by reducing the vortex created at the wingtip.
