Greenhouse Gas Emissions
In the context of aviation, Greenhouse Gas Emissions refer to the gases released into the atmosphere as a result of aircraft operations. These emissions are a significant contributor to global warming and climate change. The primary greenhouse gases emitted by aircraft are carbon dioxide (CO2) and water vapor (H2O), but aircraft also emit other gases such as methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O), which have a much higher warming potential than CO2. The aviation industry is actively seeking ways to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions, including through the development of more fuel-efficient aircraft and engines, the use of sustainable aviation fuels, and operational measures such as optimizing flight paths.
