Stabilized Approach
A stabilized approach is an approach to land an aircraft where the aircraft is maintained in a constant and controlled flight path, with a constant rate of descent, and configured for landing. The aircraft should be on the correct approach path, at the correct speed, and with the landing gear and flaps extended. A stabilized approach is important for safe landings as it reduces the risk of accidents caused by unstable approaches, such as runway excursions, hard landings, and tail strikes. Pilots should discontinue an approach and go around if the approach becomes unstable.
