Tail Strike

Tail Strike is an aviation term that refers to an event where the rear end of an aircraft touches the runway during takeoff or landing. This can occur when the aircraft's pitch angle is too high, or when the aircraft is rotated too early during takeoff. Tail strikes can cause damage to the aircraft's tail section, including the horizontal stabilizer, elevators, and rear pressure bulkhead. In severe cases, tail strikes can compromise the structural integrity of the aircraft, leading to catastrophic failure. Pilots are trained to avoid tail strikes by following proper takeoff and landing procedures, and by being aware of the aircraft's weight and balance limitations.
