Terminal Area
Terminal Area is a designated airspace surrounding an airport where aircraft descend, approach and take off. It is also known as the Terminal Control Area (TCA). The Terminal Area is typically a cylinder-shaped airspace that extends from the surface to a specified altitude, and it is divided into different segments or layers. The purpose of the Terminal Area is to provide a controlled environment for aircraft operations in the vicinity of an airport, and to ensure safe and efficient flow of air traffic. Air traffic control services are provided within the Terminal Area to manage the movement of aircraft, and to prevent collisions between aircraft. The Terminal Area is an important component of the National airspace system (NAS) and it is regulated by the Federal aviation administration (FAA).
