Thrust Reversal

Thrust Reversal is a method used by aircraft to rapidly decelerate after landing. It involves the temporary diversion of an aircraft engine's thrust so that it acts against the forward travel of the aircraft, providing deceleration. This is achieved by changing the direction of the exhaust gases produced by the engine. The thrust reversal system is typically activated immediately after touchdown, and is used to slow the aircraft to a safe taxiing speed. Thrust Reversal is an important safety feature in aviation, as it reduces the amount of runway required for landing and helps to prevent runway overruns.
