Troposphere

The troposphere is the lowest layer of the Earth's atmosphere, extending from the surface up to an average height of 7-20 km, depending on the location and season. It is where all weather occurs and where most of the Earth's air mass exists. The temperature in the troposphere decreases with altitude, due to the decreasing pressure and the fact that the Earth's surface heats the air from below. This creates vertical mixing of the air, which is essential for the formation of clouds, precipitation, and other weather phenomena. The troposphere is also where most of the commercial aviation takes place, as it provides the necessary air for the lift and propulsion of aircraft.
