Absolute Altitude
Absolute altitude is the vertical distance of an aircraft above the terrain or surface below it, regardless of the aircraft's altitude above sea level. It is also known as height above ground level (AGL). This altitude is important for pilots during takeoff and landing, as well as during low-level flight operations such as crop dusting or aerial surveying. Absolute altitude can be measured using radar altimeters, which use radio waves to determine the distance between the aircraft and the ground. It is also used in terrain avoidance systems to provide pilots with information about their proximity to the ground.
