Air Traffic Flow

Air Traffic Flow (ATF) refers to the management of air traffic in order to ensure a safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of air traffic. It involves the coordination of air traffic control, airline operations, and airport operations to optimize the use of airspace and airport capacity. The goal of ATF is to balance the demand for air traffic with the available capacity, while maintaining safety and efficiency. This is achieved through the use of various tools and procedures, such as traffic flow management (TFM) systems, ground delay programs (GDPs), and flow control procedures. ATF is critical to the safe and efficient operation of the National airspace system (NAS) and is managed by the Federal aviation administration (FAA) in the United States.
