Lidar

Lidar (Light Detection and Ranging) is a remote sensing technology that uses laser light to measure distances and create high-resolution 3D maps of the environment. In aviation, Lidar is used for terrain mapping, obstacle detection, and navigation. It can be mounted on aircraft or ground vehicles to provide accurate and detailed information about the terrain and obstacles in the flight path. Lidar can also be used for airport runway inspection, vegetation mapping, and wind shear detection. The technology is particularly useful in low visibility conditions, such as fog or clouds, where traditional visual navigation is limited.
