Lift Augmentation
Lift augmentation is the process of increasing the lift generated by an aircraft's wing beyond the normal maximum lift capability. This is achieved by using various devices such as flaps, slats, and spoilers to modify the airflow over the wing. Lift augmentation is particularly important during takeoff and landing when the aircraft needs to generate more lift at lower speeds. By increasing the lift, the aircraft can take off and land on shorter runways, carry more weight, and fly at slower speeds. The use of lift augmentation devices also improves the aircraft's handling characteristics and reduces the stall speed.
