Minimum Altitudes

Minimum Altitudes refer to the lowest altitude that an aircraft can fly in a specific area or route, ensuring adequate clearance from obstacles and terrain. These altitudes are established by aviation authorities and are categorized into various types such as Minimum Obstruction Clearance Altitude (MOCA), Minimum Vectoring Altitude (MVA), Minimum Enroute Altitude (MEA), and Minimum Crossing Altitude (MCA). MOCA is the minimum altitude that provides obstruction clearance in non-radar environments, MVA is the minimum altitude for radar vectoring, MEA is the minimum altitude for safe navigation along an airway, and MCA is the minimum altitude for crossing over a fix or a navigational aid. Pilots must adhere to these minimum altitudes to ensure safe and efficient flight operations.
