Multi-stage
Multi-stage refers to a type of rocket or jet engine that has multiple sections, or stages, each with its own fuel and propulsion system. As the fuel in one stage is depleted, it is jettisoned and the next stage is ignited, allowing the vehicle to achieve higher speeds and altitudes than would be possible with a single-stage engine. Multi-stage engines are commonly used in spaceflight and long-range missiles, as well as in some commercial aircraft for high-altitude flight.
