Precision Approach

Precision Approach is a type of instrument approach that provides both lateral and vertical guidance to an aircraft on final approach to a runway. It is designed to provide a highly accurate and safe means of landing in low visibility conditions, such as fog or heavy rain. The precision approach is accomplished using ground-based navigation aids, such as the Instrument Landing System (ILS) or Microwave Landing System (MLS), which provide the pilot with precise course and glidepath information. The pilot uses this information to fly the aircraft down to the runway threshold, where a visual landing can be made. Precision approaches are typically used by commercial airlines and other large aircraft that require a high degree of accuracy and safety in their approach and landing procedures.
