Ratings
In aviation, ratings refer to the qualifications and certifications required for pilots to operate specific types of aircraft or perform certain tasks. These ratings are issued by aviation authorities such as the Federal aviation administration (FAA) in the United States and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in Europe. Examples of ratings include the Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) rating, which is required to fly large commercial aircraft, and the Instrument rating (IR), which allows pilots to fly in low visibility conditions using only instruments. Ratings may also be required for specific types of aircraft, such as the Multi-Engine Rating or the Type rating for a particular model of aircraft.
